Welcome to Equipping Leaders for Mission and Ministry (ELMM), a program to encourage and lift up lay leaders in the congregations throughout the North/West Lower Michigan Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
As part of our three year program, lay leaders participate in learning events focused on bible study, Lutheran theology, practical skills, and gift discernment.
We invite you explore and learn more about our mission, program, and events.
Equipping Leaders for Mission and Ministry (ELMM) focuses on biblical instruction and a variety of ministry topics including training as a Lutheran Bible Study Leader, Stewardship Specialist, Assisting Minister, and Community Catalyst.
These sessions are led by seminary professors, often from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, and leaders in the North/West Lower Michigan Synod and full communion partners.
ELMM participants are also encouraged to attend learning events sponsored by the North/West Lower Michigan Synod and other organizations.
Equipping Leaders for Mission and Ministry (ELMM), sponsors 12 two-day learning retreats a year. Each retreat has a biblical instruction component as well as a training session on a specific ministry topic.
Retreats are open to program participants as well as those considering applying to the program. Oftentimes the best way for a prospective applicant to discern whether the ELMM program is a good fit is to attend a retreat.
Retreats take place around the territory of the North/West Lower Michigan Synod.
